The discipline of hard work and my passion for food probably
began earlier for me than most: I started working in the family green grocers
at the age of ten. Whilst my schoolmates were playing football, I rented a piece of land on a local farm and raised
pigs, chickens, sheep and turkeys. The natural step from here was to train as a
butcher where my interest in high quality meats and food grew further. I opened my first café and catering business
in 2011. Six years later the opportunity
came to expand and realise my ideas within the community I grew up in. Community plays an important role in what we
do here at The Kitchen; knowing the preferences of our regular customers, providing
an inviting meeting place to have a break, eat lunch and chat or do the
crossword - all under the roof of this historic building.
